Lateral Flow Testing and our care homes
We’re pleased that the roll out of the rapid test (Lateral Flow Testing) in our care homes presents an opportunity for residents and their loved ones to have a hug, subject to a negative test, use of the required PPE and infection control measures.
We’re committed to enabling relatives and loved ones to visit care homes and recognise how important visits are for everyone concerned.
We have recently sent letters to relatives about Lateral Flow Testing at our care homes. We are doing everything we can to enable residents to see relatives and loved ones safely and as often as possible in accordance with government and Public Health England guidance.
It is important to emphasise that these first steps will be taken carefully and that we continue to follow government, Public Health England and local authority guidelines.
Physical contact will be limited at this stage to avoid a potential risk of transmission. The wellbeing and safety of residents that live with us is paramount.
