The Firs care home hosts Father’s Day reunion celebrations
A Felixstowe care home has organised a special celebration for Father’s Day with a beer tasting afternoon for all the dads in the home.
Anchor’s The Firs care home on Grange Road, Felixstowe was delighted to welcome several families of residents for a, socially distanced, specially organised celebration for all the dads living with them.
The team at The Firs organised the beer tasting in their ‘Peewit Bar’ and gardens for the residents to enjoy with their loved ones to celebrate Father’s Day.
In addition, the team brought cards and presents for the residents, along with the gifts the families brought their dads as well to mark the special occasion in style. Some residents also had the chance to see grandchildren they haven’t seen in person for a long time.
Susan Gibson, Anchor’s The Firs care home manager, said:
It’s so lovely that we can have families into the care home for Father’s Day. It’s a really special day to have everyone reunited and you can really see how much it means to our residents and their families. We’ve always enjoyed celebrating Father’s Day here at The Firs but this year it really feels extra special! We’ve really enjoyed being able to have beer tasting, courtesy of Adnams Brewery, for Father’s Day this year.
Roly Bright, 88 who has lived at The Firs for two years, said:
It was lovely to celebrate Father’s Day face-to-face with my girls, Janice and Irene and do some beer tasting as well.
Janice Smith, Roly’s daughter, was delighted to see her dad again, saying:
It was so wonderful for myself and my sister Irene o see Dad again in person, especially for Father’s Day! Zoom calls and FaceTime are all well and good but it’s been so special to actually see him again in the flesh.
