Manor House Knaresborough care home holds weekend of Mother’s Day festivities
The Manor House Knaresborough care home held a series of special celebrations to mark the importance of mothers.
Mother’s Day festivities at The Manor House Knaresborough started on Friday with a lovely pamper session in the home’s salon. Residents relaxed with a glass of fizz and enjoyed hand massages before having their nails done. Residents also made flower arrangements in jam jars to put in their rooms for the occasion.
On Sunday, mothers at The Manor House Knaresborough received cards, flowers and gifts from their loved ones before connecting virtually on video calls. They were then treated to a special Mother’s Day menu prepared by the home’s head chef including roast lamb and sticky toffee pudding accompanied by a drinks trolley.
Brenda Raines, 91, resident of The Manor House Knaresborough said:
The home worked really hard to make us feel special for Mother’s Day. We walked into the dining room to find all the tables decorated beautifully with tiny crystals on each table. It was totally unexpected and lovely! We had a wonderful meal and the drinks were an added surprise. We really appreciate what the staff do for us here.
Each mother received a gift from the home and later enjoyed afternoon tea with freshly baked cake and scones with cream and jam.
Sandie Alder, Care Assistant at The Manor House Knaresborough, said:
Celebrating special occasions are important now more than ever at the moment. It’s very important for residents’ wellbeing and it was so lovely to see their faces light up when they walked into the dining room. I love how much effort is put into social activities like this here at The Manor House- Knaresborough.
