Manor House Knaresborough care home resident reunited with wife of 61 years

A resident from a Knaresborough care home has been reunited with his wife of 61 years following new guidelines enabling indoor visits from a single named family member or friend.Knaresborough reunion

Harry Murray, 86, resident of The Manor House care home on Hambleton Grove, was absolutely delighted to see his wife Pauline for an indoor visit. The couple have lived in Knaresborough for over 52 years and Pauline, who is a former major of the town, used to visit Harry almost every day prior to the pandemic.

Residents of The Manor House care home are now able to see each other in person thanks to the hard work of the care team ensuring the visits can be carried out safely.

Harry said:

It’s just lovely to hold my wife’s hand again and it’s great to see her after all that’s happened. The team at The Manor House have been amazing looking after all of us here but it means so much to see my family again.

After being apart for nearly a year, Harry and Pauline were all smiles as they enjoyed each other’s company and a game of Connect Four.

Manager Adel Pangilinan from The Manor House Knaresborough said:

It’s so wonderful to see our residents and relatives reunited like this! The reunion between Harry and Pauline was absolutely beautiful. It’s so heart-warming and rewarding that residents are starting to see their loved ones in person and hold hands.

The Manor House care home is well-known for its schedule of rewarding activities and its outstanding level of dementia care. Looking for a home for yourself or a loved one?
