Oakleigh care home residents create Easter baskets for community nurses
Residents of Oakleigh care home in Godstone have been busy creating handcrafted Easter baskets filled with treats, to bring joy to community and district nurses in their local area.
To celebrate Easter this year, residents and care workers at Anchor Hanover’s Oakleigh care home have been crafting handmade chicks and bunnies, to say ‘thank you’ to all of the district and community nurses who care for them.
Alongside the residents’ and staff’s hand-painted rabbits and chicks, the baskets will be filled with chocolate Easter eggs and handmade Easter cards, to be given to the nurses to enjoy on Good Friday.
With Easter proving to be a busy time for the nurses amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the residents and staff at Oakleigh wanted to use this time to show their gratitude and give something back to their local community.
Tabitha Harrison-Lyons, Home Manager at Anchor Hanover’s Oakleigh care home said:
It has been an especially difficult year, and the residents and colleagues at Oakleigh are forever grateful for all the extra care our community and district nurses have provided us with. We always like to thank the nurses for everything they do, and the residents were very keen to get involved in this wonderful project.
John Kollias (79), a resident at Oakleigh care home said:
The care team at Anchor Hanover’s Oakleigh along with district nurses have been working so hard, and I am very proud to be involved in a project that says thank you to all of them.
