A fulfilling life

We understand that being interested in what is going on, having a purpose to your day and taking part in fun activities alongside other people, are vital parts of a fulfilled life.

Our approach to residential care focuses on ensuring residents are supported to continue doing all the things they enjoy both in the home as well as in the local community.

Resident Bruce talks about his experience of living at Moore Place and how he feels his life has changed

All of our care homes offer a stimulating range of daily activities and plenty of opportunities for interaction with a range of different people. Meaningful activities and hobbies, day trips to leisure facilities and places of interest, and social events that invite different people into the home are planned with residents, taking into account their individual and group interests and highlighted throughout the home and to relatives and local community groups.

Resident Joan tells us how her life has changed since moving to Moore Place

Our homes are very much part of their local community, and we encourage activities that help our residents maintain important bonds and relationships with other people and groups in the area are actively encouraged.

And of course, your friends and family are welcome at any time. If they wish they can stay for meals with you when visiting and some of our homes also have overnight guest rooms.

Residential care - a fulfilling lifeA positive dining experience

Staff in our care homes are committed to making mealtimes a sociable and enjoyable part of each day.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our care home catering and understand that mealtimes often provide a positive structure to the day around which other plans, such as trips out, are made.

Food, and the enjoyment of freshly cooked, appetising and nutritionally balanced meals in a pleasant atmosphere, is another key part of a fulfilled life and therefore making the most of mealtimes is central to the residential care in all our care homes.

Our animal friends

Our relationships are key to our happiness and we recognise that pets can provide companionship, comfort and love, as well as a way of making contact with others. We are proud to be the only national housing association and organisation to achieve the Gold Housing Footprint from the RSPCA PawPrint awards.

We understand that if you have a pet they are a very important part of your life, and therefore we have a ‘pet friendly’ policy that covers all of our rented retirement housing and care homes. Our residential care homes are pet friendly environments and you are welcome to bring your domestic pets with you, as long as you arrange this with the manager before you move. Find out more about our pet-friendly approach here.

Our pet friendly policy: meet Snowy and Sparky

We also recognise there can be benefits for non-pet owners to spend time in the company of animals, and where residents would like to have this opportunity, we can arrange for small animals to visit as part of animal therapy sessions. Many of our homes have established relationships with groups such as Pets As Therapy and ZooLab.
